Happy Birthday, Betty White! Today, January 17th, the legend turns 98, which means it is time to celebrate this national treasure.
While her acting talent loves it a lot, what she doesn't get much credit for is being a Hollywood cat and a total fashionista. It's just one more thing to add to your list of notable titles, which include being a television pioneer, a brilliant comedian, an animal rights defender, and more.
Beginning in the 1940s, White became a household name when she took on the role of host of the Hollywood television program in 1952. It was also in the same year that she became recognized as the first woman to produce a comedy with the program Life With Elizabeth. From there, she starred in all sorts of award-winning roles, including Sue Ann Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls and Elka Ostrovsky on Hot in Cleveland. In addition to the eight Emmy victories, she also received three SAG awards and a Grammy.
As incredible as the accolades are, she has also had an impressive fashion evolution over many years in the spotlight. From the classic sets of pearls and white gloves from the 50s to the cool looks of the 70s, White transformed his look over the years, always remaining in fashion and with great elegance.
