ASRock has grown a lot in the market in the last few months, thanks to the success of its motherboards in the AMD Ryzen world, especially the excellent X570 Taichi that left enthusiasts quite pleased with the evolution of the manufacturer.
Well, after launching one of the best motherboards for the latest AMD Ryzen 3000 processors, it looks like ASRock is also going to be one of the first manufacturers to launch B550 motherboards! Bringing some features of the X570 chipset to the mid-range of the market.
ASRock registered B550 motherboards! Ryzen 3000 with cheap but good boards?
Therefore, the ASRock B550AM Gaming motherboard has already smiled at the camera, being in the background a 'refresh' of the low-power B450 chipset that hit the market in October 2019. That said, we are talking about a board that will be able to support all Ryzen processors released so far … And of course, we will also have some support for the recent Standard PCIe 4.0! (In this case, only the first ‘slot’ supports the technology)
But let's look at the specs a bit:
- AM4 Socket connected directly to 4 DDR4 DIMMs with dual-channel support.
- One PCIe 4.0 x16 backward compatible with PCIe 3.0
- M.222110 PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA 6GBPS slot.
- RGB included
In my opinion, it's a shame we don't have an M.2 slot for PCIe 4.0 SSDs on this motherboard! However, seeing that there is a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot in this product, indicates that manufacturers will be able to play around with this a little depending on the model. So it is possible that in the very near future you do not need to buy a super expensive X570 motherboard to enter the world of super fast SSDs.
Having said all that, ASRock has not yet revealed the price of the product, nor when it will reach the market. In fact, we still don't even know if this is a product reserved for OEM partners.
