Mazda Motorsports unveiled the new Mazda3 TCR yesterday, in the United States, yesterday, the latest in its competition program for customers. The racing debut of the new Mazda3 TCR will take place at the 2020 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, a four-hour endurance journey on 26 January 2020 as part of the broader Rolex 24 at Daytona program.

In keeping with the striking design of the hatchback version of the current Mazda3 2019, the Mazda3 TCR underscores the latest iteration of its Kodo design signature – The Soul of Motion. Imagined at Mazda Design America Studios in Irvine, California, its designers spent countless hours making sure that the Mazda3 TCR's aerodynamics were compliant with all TCR regulations, making it flow seamlessly with the Mazda3's sharp edge lines of production.

“The TCR presents a great opportunity to highlight the new Mazda3 and give our customers a new chance to compete behind the wheel of Mazda models,” said Masahiro Moro, Chairman and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). “Some of our most important successes in the IMSA and SRO TC Americas series have come from dedicated customers who have chosen to compete with Mazda models, so we expect the next generation of Mazda drivers to see that same potential in the new Mazda3 TCR.”

“The Mazda3 mirrors the fantastic design and engineering that Mazda is known for and is therefore a great base for our new Mazda3 TCR,” said John Doonan, Mazda Motorsports Director. “Over the course of several seasons we have been seeing a return to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge championship, so everyone at Mazda looks forward to the arrival of 2020. We look forward to a huge success for the Mazda3 TCR in the IMSA series. , SRO Americas and TCR championships around the world. ”
