Created by women for women in 2014, Galvan aims to disrupt the traditional idea of formal wear. Anna-Christin Haas, Sola Harrison, Carolyn Franks, and Katherine Holmgren wanted to make luxurious yet effortless pieces that were versatile enough to be styled differently and used repeatedly.
Commercial Director Katherine Holmgren tells us that her designs are "universally flattering and timelessly chic." The London-based brand is known for its slippery dresses and sophisticated sequin dresses – and celebrities can't get enough. Creative director Sola Harrison says the ideal look for the red carpet “reflects a woman's personality, leaving her a little out of her comfort zone.” Feel ready to take on the world with quiet confidence. "
One of the company's most memorable red carpet moments was when Sienna Miller wore a striped sequin look for a 2014 film debut. “She was one of the first celebrities to wear Galvan,” says partnership director Carolyn Franks. . “The next day everyone wanted this dress and we sold out instantly. That's when I realized the power of celebrity dress. "
Design director Anna Christin Haas has an affinity for the dress Michelle Dockery wore at the Downton Abbey premiere on September 9. “We love using one of our simple, clean 90s DNA silhouettes in the center and working with a timeless copper color,” Christin says Haas. “The sequins are smaller than normal, which was a new development for us and helped create the overlapping effect and reversible paillettes. This brought a new texture that created a rich feel and an incredibly beautiful dress for Michelle. "
Another favorite of Christin Haas is Karlie Kloss's number she chose for a gala party before Met in May. “It was inspired by a kimono to create a wrap effect. We play with different layers and long sleeves to make the dress look cool and chic, just like Karlie! "
